Over 15,000 people volunteered for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Given the increased volunteering participation of Gold Coast residents during this time, and the strong relationships formed with peak volunteering organisations in the lead up to the Games, City of Gold Coast is working on a Volunteering Legacy Project. The project aims to build on the spirit of community involvement that resulted from the Games to grow rates of volunteering on the Gold Coast and across Queensland. Ultimately, the project will contribute to building a strong, connected, engaged, inclusive community through volunteering.
